JF&CS Shalom Bayit Program
The very real stories of some American Jewish families
Presented by JF&CS’ Shalom Bayit program
Wednesday, January 9, 2008 7 pm
Temple Emanu-El
1580 Spalding Dr, Atlanta, GA 30350
This 30 minute dramatic reading is based on true stories of Jewish individuals who have been abused, and juxtaposes these true stories of suffering with myths and “story-book” tales of perfect Jewish families. This powerful presentation will be followed by a discussion with Wendy Lipshutz, LMSW, Shalom Bayit* Program Director.
The reading will feature members of our Temple Emanu-El family. Sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood *Shalom Bayit’s mission is to work toward creating peace in the home, particularly within the Jewish community, and to dispel the myth that abuse does not occur in Jewish homes. The program offers counseling, advocacy, support groups, crisis intervention and referrals for individuals who have been abused and provides prevention, educational programming and advocacy for social changes needed to eliminate violence in the home.
