Our Programs

Both our Diamond Family Religious School and ONEG Teen Program offer a thoughtful, up-to-date curriculum of Judaic and Hebrew studies which allows us to provide new innovative curricula with supporting resources, holiday programs, Jewish tradition, values, history, language, culture, family programs, and more.

Religious School

Sundays
For all children in Kindergarten through 8th grade, we offer religious school on Sunday mornings from 9:15-12:00pm using the curriculum from Institute for Southern Jewish Life.

  • Grades K-3rd focus on stories from the Torah, holidays, values and identifying Hebrew letters.
  • Grades 4-7th deal more in-dept with Judaica topics and concentrate on mastering Hebrew reading, while learning the prayers of Shabbat worship services.
  • Eighth Grade ONEG has a special curriculum which combines the ideals of mitzvot, tikkun olam (world repair) and learning into a group experience that builds relationships and Jewish leadership.

Midweek Hebrew

Students in grades 3-6 extend their studies in Hebrew school attending either Mondays or Wednesday evenings from 4:55-6:40pm. Contacts

ONEG

Mondays
Our 9th-12th grade students learn with spirited, thoughtful activities, discussion and weekend trips led by our own clergy and additional specialists. We offer weekly first period creative options, followed by engaging study and dialogue that confronts modern Jewish dilemmas and challenges. High school teens are to report for Monday Night ONEG from 6:45-8:30pm.

Once a month we invite our post-Confirmation students in grades 11 and 12 to join the Monday evening ONEG for special speakers and events which will give them a chance to grow their Jewish identities.

Our Mission

It is our mission at Temple Emanu-El to provide an environment of study, song and celebration where our children and our families explore and embrace Judaism in a modern world. Our goal is to provide programming which inspires our students to be thoughtful, committed and engaged young Jews with a connection to Israel and Jews around the world. We want our students to become knowledgeable of our history and heritage, learn to face the challenges of today through our Jewish values, Tikkun Olam and Tzedakah, and look forward to shaping our Jewish community of tomorrow.

The Diamond Family Religious School believes it has an excellent curriculum of Judaic and Hebrew studies which services students from Kindergarten to seventh grade.

The Schiff Preschool builds the foundation for your child’s Jewish identity while developing the social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills every child needs to develop a positive self-image. Schiff Preschool offers brand new facilities including spacious classrooms and a new playground in a safe, secure environment.

The Tot Shabbat program provides a means for the youngest children to participate in Jewish ritual in a fun and imaginative way.

The Young Family Initiative (YFI) reaches out to families with children from birth through fifth grade, and to adults and couples in their late 20's, 30's and 40's. This committee plans family and adult social programs, events and outings that are specifically geared toward the young families of Temple Emanu-El.

In addition, we have the ONEG program for high school students and the Jr. TEFTY for middle school children. Many of our high school and middle school children are involved in these groups.
